About Us

Realizing there was a need for child friendly soccer in Tippecanoe County a formation committee met and decided to pursue the goal of a child centered league or club.

Founded in 2004, for children 4 years to 12 years of age, the North West Soccer Club (NWSC) offers the first recreational age appropriate soccer for boys and girls in Tippecanoe County under sanctioned rules. This is accomplished by providing a coaching staff to train Parent Coaches in soccer and youth development, as well as, not emphasizing team records, but instead the development of the individual child. Players learn basic soccer skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship with Fun and soccer skill development as the goals.

These goals are accomplished by making sure each player plays a minimum of one half of each game. Team and league standings are not kept in the under 6, under 8, and under 10 age groups, and all players receive a participation trophy or medal at the end of each season.

See what your high school coaches have to say about the “small games philosophy”. Quotes

The US Youth Soccer (USYS), National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), Indiana Youth Soccer Association (IYSA), and North West Soccer Club follow the small games philosophy that youth soccer players learn best, and have more fun, with a playing format of 3v3 or 4v4 in the U6 and U8 age groups.

The best way to teach soccer skills and techniques is having children play the game of soccer!

The format of play in the NWSC is as follows:
under 6 play 4v4
under 8 play 4v4
Under 10 play 5v5 games (including goalie)
Under 12 play 5v5 games (including goalie)
